The Mellor Archaeology Trust has an excellent page about the excavation of a Bronze age Cairn at Shaw Farm where they discovered a very rare Amber Necklace. You can see the exciting finds from the excavations at the Stockport Story Museum. which is located here under a 30 minute drive from Shaw Farm.
