Apart from Derbyshire and the Peak District there are many other attractions within an hour's drive.

Cheshire

Visit Quarry Bank Cotton Mill and gardens in Style to see Europes largest working water wheel and learn about life during the Industrial Revolution. A 45 minute drive away.

The giant Jodrell Bank radio telescope is one of the most powerful in the world and is 50 minutes drive away. You can explore the visitors centre, gardens and they also host events and activities.

Stockport


Only 25 minutes from Shaw Farm Stockport has a number of great attractions including the Stockport Story Museum. where you can see the amber necklace and other finds from the Burial Cairn at Shaw Farm. The museum is located here.

Stockport also has a beautifully restored art deco theatre called The Plaza. It hosts a wide range of shows, see the reviews here.

Staffordshire


The Staffordshire Moorlands form the south western side of the Peak District. It offers scenic countryside, plus the world famous theme park for thrill seekers at Alton Towers, which is just over an hours drive away.

Yorkshire


In West Yorkshire to the north of the Peak District Holmfirth is a 45 minute drive. Home of the popular BBC series Last of the Summer Wine, you can visit the famous cafe and explore the rugged countryside where the series was filmed.

To the east of the Peak District, Sheffield is an hours drive, or you can take the train from New Mills Central and pass through the beautiful scenery of the Peak District.
